PLEDGE FESTIVAL
The programme:- Festival of commitment to the country
1. The day :- 3rd Saturday of January every year
2. The target :- Each and every INDIAN
3. The purpose :-
a. Promoting in every INDIAN, a sense of BELONGING to the country
b. Ensuring people repose faith in the RULE OF LAW
c. Fostering PEACE, LOVE AND HARMONY among communities
d. DEMOLISHING HATRED among faiths or religions
e. PROTESTING VIOLENCE against the state and individuals in any form
f. Unleashing a hate campaign against TERRORISM AND CORRUPTION
4. The elements of the festival :
a. RELIGIOUS SOUND : Blowing of conches, trumpets or drums from temples, monasteries etc, sirens from mosques, bells from churches and involvement of all other religious institutions across the country in unison at the appointed time.
b. PLEDGE RECITAL in every Indian Language : Reciting pledge of allegiance to the country by all in their respective mother tongues following the calls from the religious institutions.
c. SHOW OF PROTEST: Putting up a show by displaying white badges or tricolors (national flag) by all as a mark of protest against violence and terrorism.
d. CULTURAL EVENTS: Cultural events with nationalism as theme.
e. COMMUNITY FEASTS: Sharing community feasts among people cutting across faiths.
5. The method:
a. Professional groups like lawyers, doctors, teachers, students, members of civil societies and conscious citizens putting on badges (whether tricolors or white ribbons) take lead in reciting the pledge of allegiance and organize such programmes across the country in unison without hurting any one’s religious sentiment.
b. Government must ensure involvement of all religious institutions to usher in the auspicious moment so that the message reaches village homes where even the radio or newspapers have not reached.
c. Media support to generate awareness.
6. The message;- INDIA FIRST ( Love your nation, Hate corruption and Defeat terrorism)
It is a novel method of mass communication towards a positive change. It will be a mass mobilization programme against violence, corruption and terrorism through a festival involving people of all faiths. Thus it is a solution to the ongoing spate of violence by elements from within and outside the country while promoting nationalism and such a step has never been taken in the history
