Great we made it happen. It was a treat to see over 400 villagers taking the pledge at the Haryana Style Kabbadi Mahakumbh at Karnal on 30.8.2009. Words cannot describe the effect of it. I wish it happens across the country.

To him the world is silent, because he cannot hear. But he can understand. He had done his schooling from a deaf institute in Arunachal Pradesh. He is from Assam and can read and write English and Ahomia. He knows that his state is suffering from terrorist activities. But he could not comprehend the reason. He prays to god for peace. Eighteen year old deaf lad Gyandip Talukdar who is now studying in Delhi now happy to found a solution to bring peace in his state.  Few days back he found a small handbill kept on his teacher’s table. He read it but didn’t able to understand. So he asked his teacher who explained about a National Pledge. Next day his teacher found him busy with computer. Gyandip typed the pledge and loaded in his pen-drive. What will you do with it? Teacher asked. “I will take it to my native place and distribute copies to my friend. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP THEM TO LOVE OUR MOTHER LAND. It will fetch the peace” – Gyandip answered.

Ms Pradosh Kumari Debi, City Prince Public School, Delhi

I had the privilege of introducing the pledge in English in my school on January 25, 2008. The effect was electrifying. Imagine the euphoric moment if it happens across the country in unison to the accompaniment of beating of cymbals, blowing conches, beating of drums, sirens etc.

Nabajyoti Das

This time it was Pledge time. When I introduced the concept to my team they were all thrilled about the working mechanism and impact the concept would generate in the country. After the individual round of presentation we all took the pledge and the experience was very good. Everybody came after the event and congratulated for the effort so far by the BIG team. Much more than me, the real receipent of this Kudos goes to the leading core members who lost their sleep in designing the Pledge.

Just do it. Do not intellectualise and find a fault. Pledge is a great instrument.

It gives me immense pleasure to share with you that on 2nd October, 2009 hundreds of students, teachers and parents of Jaraka High School have taken the National Pledge in Odiya drafted by Build India in a meeting organised by Fouz India, a Voluntary Organisation in the District of Jajpur of Orissa. It was simply great.
